Roll out security rules with confidence

Build a legitimate-traffic baseline, narrow rule scope, false-positive checks and rollback criteria for security changes.

Overview

Validate protection alongside legitimate application behavior. Before enabling a rule, define the behavior it should address and the requests it must preserve.

01

Prepare legitimate and suspicious samples

Cover login, payments, search, uploads, callbacks and required automation. Use suspicious test samples only in an authorized environment, not against unrelated systems.

02

Start with a narrow scope

Match by hostname, path and specific characteristics rather than changing every request at once. If the platform offers an observation mode, review matches before enabling enforcement.

03

Review the impact of false positives

Do not measure success by blocked requests alone. Review critical-action success, required callbacks, user reports and rule matches, and keep legitimate exceptions tightly scoped.

04

Define rollback conditions in advance

Record the purpose, owner, change time and recovery method. If legitimate failures exceed the agreed tolerance, roll back the affected scope and retain evidence for review.
